SAS Presented Powerful Marketing Tool in Sofia
Understanding of the wishes of the client and taking action in accordance with them is even more critical in times of complicated economic situation. That maybe summarizes briefly the recent practical seminar of one of the world's largest developers of business intelligence software SAS. Event speakers were experts in the collection and analysis of consumer information, David Williams and Neil Hayard. They presented Customer Intelligence Platform, offered by SAS, which is much more than simply a mechanism for preparing the statistical analysis. The company has developed some very interesting mechanism to track the way customers use a product or service. SAS is presented in Bulgaria since 2007.
Saga Technology to held SI & Storage Seminar in Sofia itForum
Saga Technology will hold System Integration and Storage seminar on 23th of April in Sheraton, Sofia. It aims to present to Bulgarian enterprise clients how to deal in economic downturn with their information infrastructures particularly with storage solutions. Teodor Zahov is the New Chairman of BAIT Saga Technology
Extraordinary general meeting of the Bulgarian Association of Information Technologies (BAIT) held on Tuesday night elected as the interim chairman of the organization Teodor Zahov as well as new board. The interim board is elected with the goal to reorganize the oldest IT association in Bulgaria so it can function better in the new environment. Mr. Zahov is executive director of Spectrum Net, the leading internet and telecom provider, and at the same time he headed the board of another branch organization - Association for Electronic Communications, which unites the alternative telecom operators. Therefore, the assembly voted to change the statute of BAIT to allow combining presidency of various associations.
ESRI Presented Innovative GIS Technology Saga Technology
Bulgaria ESRI user conference was held under the slogan GIS (Geographic Information Systems) in action for effective management. Within the two-day event were given numerous technical presentations and thematic sessions addressed to specialists from various areas: management of emergencies and crises, image processing, urban and regional development, energy and infrastructure and others. Important place was given to the European INSPIRE directive and the opportunities that ESRI GIS technology provides for it. Among the speakers were key figures in government, as well as special guests of the conference, Nick Land, manager of ESRI Europe.
29 Million for Internet will be Granted to Bulgaria Saga Technology
Bulgaria will receive around 29 million euros for providing broadband Internet access in rural and inaccessible areas of the country was reported to the regular meeting of the Council for European Affairs, headed by Minister of European Affairs Gergana Passy. Money is part of the European plan for economic recovery. Total 1.2 billion euros will be provided to the Member States for access to broadband Internet. Money for Bulgaria will be used by the Program for Rural Development. About 20 million euros more will be available for providing Internet under the program Regional Development.
Vestitel Presented its TIVIA Service at the Global IPTV Forum in London itForum
Bulgarian telco Vestitel, the only company in Eastern Europe with partnership models for distribution of interactive digital television, took part in the global IPTV Forum in London. The conference is the world's largest event in this area and took place at the end of March at the London Olympia Hall and was entitled Enriching the Personal TV Experience. The Executive Director of Vestitel - Alexander Vaglarov, present model of interactive digital television and perspectives faced by customers and partners. Project called TIVIA, will bring in every home interactive TV, so that a larger number of viewers can watch TV with high quality and new advanced features. Vestitel offers to partners a model based on mutual access to the infrastructure of Internet providers and telecom operators. Thus, through a centralized platform to provide the service TIVIA, which includes the quality signal, proved copyright and divers content. These days Vestitel announced that it has selected a provider for a new interactive portal through which users can use the various menus and functions of TIVIA, and order movies and music. A tender was won by ORCA Interactive - a leading European provider in the field of IPTV platforms.
50 Bidders for Digital TV Networks in Bulgaria Saga Technology
Fifty companies have declared interest in bidding for the construction of national digital television networks in Bulgaria. The analogue television switch-off should be completed in December 2012. The Bulgarian Telecommunications Company (BTC) is running along with Austria's Oesterreichischer Rundfunksender GmbH & Co KG (ORS) a month after it announced a delay in the sale of its broadcasting unit. BTC decided to sell National Unit Radio and TV Systems (NURTS) to Austrian ORS in December last year. The price of the deal was not disclosed, but according to insiders ORS paid 80 million euro for a majority share in the company and pledged to invest another BGN 100 M in an upgrade of the radio and television towers. The deal stumbled a month ago after the regulatory authorities, the Communications Regulation Commission, said it needed four more months to give the green light to the deal. Reports say the future of the deal will become clear after the general elections in the summer. NURTS covers nearly all of Bulgaria with its network of radio and television broadcasting services.
Bulgarian Parliament Denied Interior Ministry Uncontrolled Access to Data Saga Technology
Bulgarian parliament voted against a proposal to give the Interior Ministry unlimited access to private communication data without court approval. The amendment was rejected with 74 votes for and 78 against. Three members abstained from voting. This is the fourth failed attempt of the special services to secure obtaining of private data kept from mobile operators and internet service providers without a prior court permit. Last year the Supreme Administrative Court revoked a regulation of the Interior Ministry, which permitted unrestricted access to Bulgarians' telephone conversations and online communication. The court ruled that it breaches Bulgarian constitution as it limits the rights of the citizens. Further attempt was made to include the regulation as an amendment to the Electronic Communications Act, which failed under the pressure of the opposition, the National Movement for Stability and Progress and a handful of Socialists. Interior Minister Mihail Mikov, who is a member of the Socialist Party, vehemently criticized the parliament's decision, saying it hampers the department's work on "hot clues" dealing with kidnappings, murders, terrorism acts, drug trafficking and drug dealing.
Bulgaria and Romania in the blacklist for online piracy Saga Technology
Bulgaria along with Romania will again be at the head of the list of the U.S. for online piracy because of problems with the protection of intellectual property. The list is part of the annual report on U.S. trade. The black list includes countries that do not sufficiently protect American intellectual property and subject to trade sanctions by the United States. States which not protect enough US intellectual property will be listed in the Special 301 Report, which will be published at the end of this month and which is linked to the trade report.
