"Community Development and Participation Through the Chitalishta Network" ("Chitalishta") is a project of the Ministry of Culture of Bulgaria and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), with the support of the MATRA Programme of the Netherlands government and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The goal of the project is to strengthen the community role of the Chitalishta as traditional cultural and educational centers and offer working models for their modernization and participation in local community development.

Brief
The main goal of the Chitalishta portal site is to provide support for the development of the Chitalishta network by means of exchanging information, materials and human resources, access to training and advice, and building partnerships. The portal site promotes a better understanding of the unique role and potential of the Chitalishta.

The portal site contains information about the Chitalishta and their activities on a broad range of topics.

The necessary information is collected with the assistance of the Chitalishta and the six Regional Centres of the project. The initial database contains information about the 300 Chitalishta selected for participation in the project. The other Chitalishta will be included too. 

Tools
We used the existing colors and designs to keep the flavour and the tools were PHP, PostgreSQL, XML and Macromedia Flash.

Result
We developed an easy-to-navigate site with a great functionality, easy-to-use admin section, password protected areas and a database.
